TAKE PART IN NEW MUSICALS!
Can you sing and act? If so, you may be the one we're looking for.

You are invited to audition for SIX Exciting Original Musicals to be staged in JUNE 2006. A small honorarium will be given.

TIME : 3:00 to 6:00 pm
PLACE : The Next Stage Academy, 420 Clemenceau Avenue North, adjacent to the carpark at Newton Food Centre. It's opposite Cairnhill CC , 5 mins walk from Newton MRT.
Please prepare TWO SONGS (One slow/ One Fast) to be sung acapella or accompanied by your own minus one. Bring along a photograph (any photo will do) and your bio-data/resume if possible.

1. BLUE WILLOW HOUSE (by Stella Kon and Kenneth Lyen)
A tender love story set in a Singapore brothel around the turn of the19-20th century.
a. Lim Boon Keng: m 36 : Already Prominent as a Community Leader and Member of Legislative Council.
b. Ah Lin: f 16 : Young novice prostitute,
c. Mama: f 40 : Brothel Keeper,
d. Kong: m 55 : A crippled soup-hawker, a dirty old man.
e. May Lee: f 32 : A prostitute.f. Marakusa: f 28 : A Japanese courtesan.
g. The Boss: m 40 : Gangster
h. Hong Chai: m 21 : A hunky porter-coolie.
Ensemble: Marakusa's little maid., policemen, rickshaw coolies, gangsters, prostitutes.

2. VANITY VICTORIOUS VIRTUE VANQUISHED (by Dwayne Lau, Kevin Fok & August Lum)
Comedy about 4 ladies obsessed about their external appearances, but learn about internal appearances.
a. Cleo : f 20+; Pimply faced.
b. Victoria: f 20+ ;Fat.
c. Becky: f 20+; Flat-chested.
d. Letchmi: f ; Dark-skinned.
e. Susanne: f 20+ ;Short.
f. Lee: m 20+ ;Sales promoter.
g. Sean: m 20+ ; Victoria's boyfriend.
h. Samuel: m 20+ ; Becky's brother.
i. Mr Tan: m 20+; Cleo's office colleague.
Ensemble: Boss, cleaner, chorus
3 CITY OF THE GODS (Writer: Darius Lim; Composer: Michelle Loh; Director: Gavin Low)
City of the Gods is a musical inspired by the mysterious demise of theancient South American Empire - the Teotihuacans - more than onemillennium ago. Love gets entangled with religion. Choices have to bemade, faith to be questioned.
(a) Zelch (20-30)Charming and playful, Zelch's devotion to both religion and anunrequited love takes him on a journey filled with agony andself-reflection.
(b) Taloc (20-30)Handsome and refined, Taloc is a subscriber of ideal romanticism, heis one prince who believes in a progressive society whose growthshould not be undermined by religion.
(c) Renoa (20+)Beautiful and kind-hearted, Renoa finds herself burdened by the fateof the civilization and her love for Taloc.
(d) Shaman (30-40)The religious leader of the Teotihuacans, Shaman, chances upon theprophecy surrounding the love between Taloc and Renoa and what itentails for the Teotihuacans. A passionate priest, he tries to preventthe calamity using his heart and faith.
(e) King (40-50)King of the Teotihuacans. An enlightened, wise leader.
(f) Queen(40-50)A refined yet playful mother of the empire.
(g) Ensemble of 6 characters.The ensemble sings and dances and plays different roles throughout the musical.
4. SWINGLE ( by Lionel Chok and Iskandar Ismail)
A jazz musical dramedy about being single and swinging.
a. Mdm Goh - is in her late 60's & charming – in the most motherly way - widowed a few years ago - currently works part-time in a bakery to pass time - dresses differently – but not in the aunty sense - dates very occasionally but 'nothing serious' – she says - conservative / sensible / level-headed
b. Natalie Koh - is late 30's / single / not-so-tall, but slender and petite - writes for the music section of The Papers - not bothered with dressing – often in casuals - easy-going / big conservative at heart / well-read / idealist - sometimes conscious of what other think / people's opinion
c. Ray Liew - is late 30's / but still single / average height / lanky - writes for financial section of The Papers - very conscious about dressing / attention seeking - considerate / meticulous / thoughtful / well-liked - street savvy / broad-minded / liberal
d. Fred Lee - is early 30's / single / young boyish looks / average built - a Singer/Musician whom NATALIE interviewed before - recently won the National Sing-Song Idol Competition - takes pride in dressing – wears mostly natural colours - goal oriented / result driven / pragmatist - frank / honest / and thus sometimes can be a loud mouth
e. Mr Koh - is mid 60's / divorced / young-at-heart / stout - editor of The Papers (aka – boss of Natalie & Ray) - is dating MDM GOH occasionally / secretly - casual dresser – not at all conscious of style and fashion - really easy-going / big conservative at heart / idealist
